 Maike Cruz founded the first CALIMA SURF SCHOOL in 1996. It developed from the idea of connecting snowboarding and surfing with the common desire to "Keep on free-riding". This was the philosophy of the first surf camps for snowboarders.
Our guests belong to the international surfing, snowboard and skateboard scene and they are a valid part of the growing surf community on the north shore of Lanzarote, together with other people of any age who surf or want to become a surfer.
Thanks to the perfect weather conditions, we are able to teach surfing all year around. The average water temperature is between 20-23 °C and air temperature is between 20-25 °C, which allow us to surf almost every day. 
Every day is different: different swell, different wind direction, different tides, different waves and always a unique wave for you to catch and ride.

In 1998 Stormrider guide considered our surf camp the biggest infrastructure of its kind in Spain. With the opening of our new surf schools in other destinations such as Brazil and Gran Canaria North & South we become an International Surf School competing eye to eye with all the surf camps of Europe and the rest of the world !!!

CALIMA SURF SCHOOL – PROGRAMM
CALIMA SCHOOL instructors who can speak English, Spanish, French and German. They have the skills to train everybody, from beginners to advanced surfers.

TIMETABLE
- 09:00/09:30 Hotel pickup
- 09:50 - at Calimasurf
- 10.00 - The lesson starts. Warm up! Stretching, easy exercises, theory on the beach... In the water !!!!
- 12:45 – 13:30 Lunch time! Picnic on the beach, relaxing on the warm sand
- 13.30 In the water! Surfing under personal tuition and correction of individual mistakes
- 15.00 Return to CalimaSurf and to Hotel
Included
- Transport to/from Hotel/Calimasurf (Costa Teguise and Puerto del Carmen - min. 2 persons)
- Picnic (Sandwich, fruit juice, energetic bar, water and coffee)
- Insurance (civil liability)

Upon completion of your 5 day course you have learned about the formation of the various sea currents, waves, winds, storms and all the safety necessary to develop for this sport … you will learn how to paddle correctly, surf waves, turn right or left, paddle “outside”, different types of surfboards and which size is appropriate for you so your surfing keeps on improving easily

 The CALIMA SURF CAMP is easy going with a very friendly atmosphere (photos). Here everybody is a beginner, ready to learn how to catch waves and surf! At our surf camps you can meet people from all over the world with whom you will share this wonderful experience. Here our religion is surf and nature and our objective is to make you feel home while learning how to surf.

 Don’t waste time searching for good waves. With us you will surf the best waves for the day no matter where they are located in the island.
Bring your own material
A local guide (a very good surfer) will drive you to the best waves for the day. You will be told about the conditions for that spot, the currents, way in and out, the locals and he will join you surfing.
If you are an advanced surfer with experience on riding serious waves on shallow reef and surf where the locals surf… Then this is the level for you…
